HF: architecture was awarded first place in the Detroit Home Design Awards for the Historic residential renovation of the Dow | McNally residence in Birmingham, Michigan. The scope of the renovation project included a complete exterior stucco restoration, the removal of the existing rear addition / wood deck that would allow for new entertaining (kitchen / nook / family) space, provide greater access to the back yard and new outside stone patio area. for more information, view the Dow | McNally Renovation in the projects section.

HF: architecture is currently featured in the summer 2009 issue of Detroit home magazine. The six-page cover story features photography of the carlson residence in ann arbor, michigan. Brian howard and homeowner, jon carlson, are interviewed for the piece.

The original saltbox cape-cod house, built in 1959, was situated on the bluff overlooking the river and a new house could not have placed at that location under the current ordinance. HF: architecture proposed a major addition/renovation, doubling the size of the existing, with half of the original house being demolished.
